Colorado Springs ranks #4 in the 2007 “Best Cities for Relocating Families” for the category of small metro areas (populations of 350,000 to 575,000), according to the Denver Business Journal – May 16, 2007. Colorado Springs has a population of 369,815 per the 2005 census. We are the 2nd most populated city in the state of Colorado and the 49th most populous city in the nation.
Colorado Springs is not alone, as Denver-Aurora ranked 21st on Top 50 Largest Cities.

- crime rate
- cost of living (96.5)
- housing market (affordability, property tax, rate of appreciation, etc.)
The only cities to out-rank Colorado Springs, Colorado in the “small metro” category were:
- Provo-Orem, Utah
- Ogden-Clearfield, Utah
- Durham, North Carolina
